Medicare Advantage Plan Choices Available PPO Plan: Also referred to as a Preferred Provider Organization. These plans have a contracted network of Doctors, Hospitals, and Providers to serve their patients but also allow the patient to use non-network providers. The cost sharing to use a non-network provider will usually be slightly higher than the in-network providers. There are two types of PPO plans (local or regional). PFFS Plan: Also referred to as Private Fee For Service Plan. These plans have the greatest flexibility. You may use a PFFS plan at any provider that accepts the terms and conditions of the plan. In most cases the provider will bill the plan directly. You may enroll in this type of plan with or without prescription drug coverage. You may also get your medical and Part D seperately when you have a PFFS plan. These plans are a good option in rural areas or for those who travel often. Unfortunately, due to funding cuts by the Government, the premiums and copays may be slightly higher than other types of plans and there may be little or no availability of plans depending on your location.
If you choose the correct type of Medicare Plan to fit your specific needs you can save thousands of dollars each year. You can choose a plan with or without part d coverage, however certain rules may apply.
